Tarangini Teachers

  • Mahika Rangnekar

    Mahika has been learning Kathak from Anuradha Didi for over 20 years, and has performed at the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival and at the International Kathak Festival in Chicago, among other places. She has taken regular workshops with Pandit Birju Maharaj and Saswati Sen. She enjoys working on abhinaya (the art of expression) and helping new students discover their own passion for Kathak. She has an MPA and MPH and currently works as a policy researcher in Oakland.

  • Shivalee Talati

    Shivalee has been with AnuradhaDidi for over 15 years. She has represented Tarangini through various shows including Ethnic Dance Festival, San Francisco, Ali Akbar Khanji’s birthday, Indian Music Circle in Dallas, Festival of the Silk Road, the International Kathak Festival in Chicago. She has attended regular workshops with Pt. Birju Maharaj and Saswati Sen. Shivalee is the recipient of the 2016 Indian Raga competition and fellowship. She regularly assists in teaching and choreographing at Tarangini. She received her Masters from USC in Consumer and Organizational Psychology and currently works as a Program Marketing Manager.

  • Isha Salian

    Isha has been learning from Smt. Anuradha Nag since 2003. She has represented Tarangini in various performances including the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival and the International Kathak Festival in Chicago, Indian Music Circle, Dallas. She has attended regular workshops with Pt Birju Maharaj and Saswati Sen. She teaches regularly at Tarangini and assists in choreographing for shows. Isha has undergraduate and masters degrees from Stanford University, and works as a science and AI writer at NVIDIA.

  • Riti Biswas

    Riti started learning Kathak from Anuradha Didi when she was about 9 years old and have been with her ever since! She loves the process of teaching dance. She teaches beginner students at Tarangini. Riti has taken regular workshops with Pt. Birju Maharaj and Saswati Sen. She has represented the school through various performances all over the Bay Area. Outside of dance, Riti has a career in biotech research, and loves to play music!

  • Ameeta Deshpande

    Ameeta Deshpande started her Kathak journey at Nrityabharati, Pune . She took lessons in Harmonium and Tabla. She has been under the tutelage of Smt Anuradha Nag since 2014. Since then Ameeta has represented Tarangini on numerous platforms in the Bay Area. She has attended regular workshops with Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj and Saswati Sen. Ameeta has a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota. Ameeta has been regularly assisting/teaching at Tarangini since 2014.

  • Aashna Shah

    Aashna has been learning Kathak since a young child and has rejoined after college. Over the years, she has attended workshops with Pandit Birju Maharaj Ji and performed for Tarangini School at school and external events. She now works as a marketing coordinator with a focus in graphic design.

  • Anumita Nag

    Anumita has been learning Kathak under Srimati Anuradha Nag since she was six years old. She has taken classes and workshops with Saswati Sen and Pandit Birju Maharajji. Anumita began interning for Tarangini as a teacher for students at the age of 13. In 2019, she started performing with Tarangini’s Production Team. Currently, she is completing her bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Sociology at Loyola Marymount University.

  • Anupriya Nag

    Anupriya has been learning under Srimati Anuradha Nag since 2006, and has received training from Saswati Sen and Pandit Birju Maharajji. She has represented Tarangini across the United States, including at the International Kathak Festival in Chicago, for the Indian Music Circle in Dallas, and for Guru Shradha’s collaborative work Sahanartana. She has taught students in Tarangini of various ages since high school. She is currently completing her Master of Public Policy at the University of Chicago, focusing on global conflict studies and international development.

  • Ayesha Mudassir

    Ayesha Mudassir had her initial training under Smt Bithi Bhattacharya, India. She started learning under the tutelage of Smt Anuradha Nag since 2015. She is part of the production team and has represented Tarangini at various occasions throughout the Bay Area. She has taken workshops under Pt. Birju Maharajji and Saswati Senji. She did her masters in electrical engineering from Stanford university and now working as a software engineer at Google.

  • Meghna Mehta

    Meghna was first introduced to Kathak by Mrs. Kamath and Gyanshree Karahe in her hometown Indore, India. Later she joined Tarangini under Anuradhadidi from 2015. She has performed for the school in various occasions and took workshops under Pt. Birju Maharajji and Saswati Senji. She graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a major in Computer Science (Specialization in Human-Computer Interaction) and now works as a User Experience designer at a startup.
